Just ask my daughter's coach whose daughter was hit in the eye and ended up with 17 stitches along the brow line. This one or the one by Rip-It are the most comfortable while being the strongest and allowing for the most visibility. I returned the Schutt for a Rip It because the Varsity size was snug and just didn't fit my petite 14 yo daughter well. Schutt could have lengthened the straps to allow for better adjustment and that would've done the trick. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful  Too heavy., By This review is from: Schutt Sports Softball Fielders Guard (Sports) We had a Rip It mask that was run over by the car when the bat bag it was in was left on the ground behind the car (suv vs rip it, suv won). Needless to say, we needed to get another one and this was the only non-plastic option available at the local store. Biggest complaint is that it is way heavier than the ripit was. Wire is thicker, and there is more of it. Also, chin cup sits in a way that makes talking almost impossible while wearing. This mask got us through the weekend and will be used as a backup only. I gave two stars because it is easier to see out of compared to plastic. She says it doesnt 'get in the way of seeing' like the other ones she tried. Also after wearing it for a few games, she mentioned that she has gotten used to it and forgets she has it on. Her only complaint initially was that the chin pad irritated her chin. It is a molded foam pad with bumps rather than the cloth covered chin pads on other masks she tired. Now that she has it broken in this doesnt seem to be an issue for her any more. |
